A weekly update for families — May 4, 2026
When your child walks into school each day, a few things matter most.
At West Q, we are being thoughtful about protecting them from the very beginning.
Your child should feel safe and known.
Not just at the start, but every day. When children feel comfortable, they are more willing to take risks, speak up, and settle into learning.
Your child should be learning to read, write, and think mathematically in a clear and consistent way.
These skills are taught directly and practiced often so they build confidence over time.
Your child should have time to use what they are learning.
Through discussion, problem-solving, and hands-on work, not just completing tasks.
Your child should be in a classroom where thinking is visible.
Talking, explaining, revising, and working with others, not just giving answers.
These are not extras.
They are what make learning feel meaningful and real for children.
As we continue planning, many details will come together.
These are the parts we will continue to protect because they shape your child’s experience each day.
Warmly,
Suzanne Sheerin
