A weekly update for families — May 18, 2026

“Why should I choose West Q?”

That’s what a parent asked me last week.

Here’s my answer:

West Q is opening with just 3K, Pre-K, and Kindergarten. Our youngest students won’t be stepping into a large school where everything already feels set. They’ll begin in a smaller community where students, families, and staff can truly get to know one another from the start.

And they’ll learn by doing.

Project-based learning will be part of every day at West Q. Students won’t spend the entire day sitting at desks or completing worksheets.

A child will study materials in science, then design a prototype to solve a real classroom problem. They’ll learn measurement and data skills in math, then use those same skills to graph, compare, and explain real information collected from their classroom or school community.

Students will also have regular access to STEM, the arts, and movement because we believe children learn best when they can think, create, move, and explore every day.

That’s the kind of school we’re building at West Q: a place where children are known well and learning feels active, meaningful, and connected.

If your family has already accepted an offer, thank you for being part of our founding year. If you’re still considering West Q, feel free to schedule a 1:1 conversation with me to learn more about the school. I’m always happy to connect with you :)

Warmly,

Suzanne Sheerin
